"The book provides an introduction to the language of the carpenter and joiner. Each chapter contains an exercise section and a reading passage describing some aspects familiar to the joinery and carpentry trades.
No special attention is given to the rules of grammar, but the exercises can form a basis on which teacher and student can go into it. Many technical terms are used in the exercises in order to increase the reader's vocabulary.
The reading passages will improve reading and the reader's understanding of the subject matter. The exercises make it necessary for the reader to refer back to the reading passages, to consolidate and expand the vocabulary.
The word lists following each reading passage make reading easier for the students. At the back of the book there is a comprehensive alphabetical word list.
The book is designed for upper secondary students studying vocational and industrial subjects and students at technical colleges. Although the subject matter has to do with woodwork, the book is also useful for those interested in learning the terminology used within the building trades. (...)"
